The fees paid by residents in aged care facilities are generally determined by the level of care required and the residents' income and assets.
Daily Care Fees are applied in both high and low level care and are calculated according to residents' income. These are the contribution to daily living costs such as meals, laundry and nursing care.
Accommodation Charges are applied in high care only and are calculated according to residents' assets. They are the contribution to the maintenance of the high care facility.
Accommodation Bonds are applied in low care and are calculated according to residents' assets. They are the contribution to the maintenance of the low care facility.
Extra service facilities (both high and low care) also charge accommodation bonds, though these are determined by the facility and are not related to the residents' assets. |
