Superannuation

Superannuation (super) is an excellent way to invest money for your retirement. Your retirement savings grow because money is paid in regularly, which your fund invests at low rates of tax. Tax concessions and other government benefits currently make super one of the best ways to invest for the long term.

Information about superannuation 

National Information Centre on Retirement Investments Inc. (NICRI)
A Commonwealth government-funded organisation which provides free, independent information to assist people to make the best possible investment decisions, including superannuation. NICRI does not give investment advice, recommend financial products or planners or undertake casework. General telephone advice and information available via a toll-free number. 

MoneySmart, consumer website of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
A very comprehensive site offering information regarding superannuation and many other investment and financial matters. Also includes a superannuation calculator. 

Financial Information Service (FIS)
A unit of Centrelink, FIS provides education and information on financial matters to a wide range of people. Free seminars are held regularly on a number of superannuation issues. 

Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
The ATO provides a comprehensive introduction to superannuation for both individuals and employers.

The ATO provides an online service, SuperSeeker, for persons attempting to locate ‘lost’ superannuation 

AUSfund
AUSfund is a no cost service that helps reunite Australians with their unclaimed superannuation.

Superannuation complaints

Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (STC)
The Tribunal is an independent body set up by the Commonwealth government to deal with complaints regarding superannuation funds, annuities and deferred annuities and Retirement Savings Accounts.
