Your grandchild's welfare

The stresses of bringing up children are considerable. The demands of caring for children, particularly in a crisis can become overwhelming and lead to fears of hurting a child.

Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) provide supportive, non-judgemental counselling for parents and carers who are afraid of hurting a child. Tel. 1800 688 009 (National freecall) 24 hours a day.

There is also help available if you suspect that a child ‘s welfare or safety is at risk.

The Child Abuse Report Line is funded by the state government through Families SA. Suspected cases of abuse or neglect are channelled to the nearest Families SA office. Social workers from the district office may visit the child and family to investigate the concerns. Tel. 13 1478, 24 hours a day.
